Some say it’s hard to beat Chicago in the summer: mid-70’s weather, beautiful sun shining off of Lake Michigan, and an abundance of great locations to get some of that local Chicago grub! Another thing found in Chicago during the summer is the Global Cold Chain Expo. This year’s Global Cold Chain Expo was held at McCormick Place, just south of the Navy Pier on June 25-27 in conjunction with the SmartFood Expo, the United Fresh MKT Expo, the United Fresh TEC Expo, and the International Floriculture Expo.
During the show, opportunities within the cold storage space were very apparent. One could sense the excitement from exhibitors and attendees alike. All of our interactions had a similar trend: the cold storage market is growing faster than ever! Not only is this space expanding within the borders of the United States, but there was a lot of interest shown from our friends in the international arena as well.
These insights were similarly shared between the ARCO Design/Build team that was in attendance during the show. ARCO Design/Build was represented by Jake Stefan (President), Brian Osterloh (Director of Business Development), Cody Provost (Business Development), and Will Jensen (Project Manager). Together, we met with existing partners and made new acquaintances. Jake Stefan spoke on Tuesday in the Construction Zone on “How will labor shortages impact future projects.” Now more than ever, it’s clear that it is great to be a cold storage expert during these times. Sharing our insights with attendees and other exhibitors alike was very rewarding and helped reinforce our expertise within the cold storage space.
Overall, the show was filled with great learning opportunities and evidence that there is much potential to be uncovered in the cold storage market. With the experience that ARCO Design/Build has garnered over the years, we’re excited for the future as we continue to grow as one of the top cold storage Design/Build firms in the nation.
